We took a three-night trip up to Fortuna, CA. While our hometown baked in 100 degree heat, by sheer luck we found refuge 3-hours north tucked behind the Redwood Curtain. Both Logan and I crave fog, wind and atmosphere, which is normally something you can count on up there, but it seems as though that heatwave disrupted the pattern and we were greeted to pleasant weather, blue bird skies without a lick of fog.
GEAR TALK
Instead of bringing a large camera kit, I carried only the GFX100S and 55mm f/1.7 plus the MCEX-18G WR Macro Extension Tube and a pack of filters. I did repeat a mistake I've made before and left the NiSi circular polarizer on pretty much 100% of the time, which I decided was the wrong call the moment I started editing. The colors felt unnatural, which required substantially more editing than would have otherwise been needed.
